CARE GUIDE

WE BELIEVE NOTHING SHOULD BE KEPT FOR BEST

The vibes should be immaculate, the bags don’t have to be.

Carry it often, give it a little love and care and your Bynde bag will look phenomenal for years to come.
Like all natural materials, leather and suede will develop character over time. Small marks, softening and subtle changes in texture and colour are all part of a bag’s life well lived.
As with all of us, a little care and attention will help your bag to age beautifully.

BAG CARE EASY WINS

  • Store your bag in its dust bag when not in use
  • If you choose suede, spray with a good quality protectant before first use
  • Avoid prolonged direct exposure to sunlight and heat sources
  • Help maintain your bag’s shape by not over filling, squashing or folding it
  • Avoid contact with oils, cosmetics, perfumes and hand sanitiser
  • Leather, suede and ball point pens don’t get on, try to keep them apart
  • If your bag gets wet, gently blot dry with a soft cloth (don’t rub) and allow it to dry naturally

CARING FOR LEATHER

Leather is a wonderfully hard working material which is both durable and supple. To keep it looking its best -

  • Give it a clean with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth now and again. Use a good quality leather conditioner occasionally to nourish the material, just make sure you test is somewhere inconspicuous first
  • Hand sanitiser can remove protective coatings and dye from leather, avoid at all costs
  • Avoid harsh cleaning products or excessive contact with water
  • Pale leathers will show patina from use more quickly, take extra care

As a natural product leather can show small variations in grain, texture and colour, but that’s all part of its unique charm.

CARING FOR SUEDE

It's hard to beat the soft velvety finish of suede, but it does benefit from a little extra attention. To keep it looking its best -

  • Don't skip the protection spray! It's really worth it, we promise. It will provide resilience against everyday use and help prevent potential colour transfer.
  • Keep suede looking fresh with a suede brush to lift the nap and remove surface dust
  • Avoid excessive contact with water and anything oily like hand cream or cosmetics
  • If storing your bag for a while, wrap zips, metalwork and straps in tissue paper to help prevent imprints from developing
  • Take extra care with paler suedes which will show patina from use more easily

As a natural product suede can show small variations in grain, texture and colour, but that’s all part of its unique charm.

A FEW FINAL TIPS

  • Rotate your bags regularly to extend their life
  • Stuff your bag lightly with paper during storage to help maintain its shape
  • Don’t store leather or suede items in plastic as it stops the materials from breathing which can lead to mould
  • Treat marks sooner rather than later for the best results
  • If a disaster does happen, go to a professional cleaner for deeper stains or restoration, they can work wonders
